Wallpaper Information
Would you like to order wallpaper, but first want to know exactly how to put it up? Follow these tips to make it easy(er) for yourself.
Materials
Our wallpapers are available in three different materials:
Vinyl textile wallpaper
Matte non-woven wallpaper
Peel & stick wallpaper
The vinyl textile wallpaper has a textile look and feel and is the most luxurious wallpaper. It is matte and has a beautiful texture. This wallpaper has a paste-the-wall installation, meaning you put the glue on the wall.
The matte non-woven wallpaper is the most allround wallpaper. It is matte and is perfectly smooth. This wallpaper has a paste-the-wall installation, meaning you have to put the glue on the wall.
Our peel & stick wallpaper is perfect for homes that are temporary. It is like a big sticker. You remove the back and just stick it to the wall. You can also remove it without a trace. It has a soft satin shine. Important: only sticks on smooth clean walls.
Always make sure your walls are clean, dust-free primed and dry. New walls have to be dry for a minimum of 2 weeks (preferably 3-4) before you add wallpaper. If you don't do this, you can get stains in your wallpapers from the underlying material.
Over time production of the materials may vary. Every time a new wallpaper is printed, they create a new paint bath. The variation is very little, but it can occur. We will always choose the highest quality of wallpaper we can get. If we have te replace a material we will always opt for something as similar as possible with the same quality. So if you have ordered your sample a long time before your order there might be, on a rare occasion, minor differences in the material.

Amazing! Wallpaper can be a tricky thing if you haven't done it before. We strongly recommend to wait for the wallpaper to arrive first and checked properly before you make any appointments. Atelier Florentine is not responsible for missed appointments due to postal delays or production flaws. This happens on a rare occasion (we are working with humans :-) ) so please wait till everything is in and checked before you call the installer.
How does it work?
Our wallpaper is sold per panel.
1. We have a panel of 50cm in width and 270cm in height. If your wall is 320 cm wide and 265cm high, you would need 7 panels to cover the width. ( 7 x 50cm = 350 cm)
2. We have a panel of 50cm in width and 320cm in height. This panel is perfect for people who would like to have a paneling on their walls. You can cut the panels in half and use them for the width.
3. We have classic wallpaper rolls of 50cm in width and 1000 cm in height. To calculate the right amount of rolls you can follow the steps below. This option is perfect for walls that are covered with windows, cabinets or if you have sloping walls. Classic rolls give you more freedom if your walls aren't perfectly rectangular or square.
Always check the parts by laying them on the floor before you glue them to the wall.
This is very important, because if a wallpaper is not printed correctly, which can happen on a very rare occasion, we can send you new ones for free.So make sure you have not glued the wallpaper to the wall before you have checked the panels.
We recommend sticking the strips as close together as possible while wallpapering, if necessary with a very small overlap.
Also, a tip for wallpaper with a dark color, such as dark blue, is to paint the wall in that color. If you have a white wall and a dark wallpaper that is not pasted correctly, you will immediately see a white seam in between. By painting the wall a darker color, at least where the seams will be, you prevent seams from being clearly visible.
Both wallpapers can be wiped off with a damp cloth. However, we do not recommend wallpaper in damp areas such as a bathroom. It can be done, but we dare not guarantee it will last for years. So this is at your own risk. However, a toilet room is fine, as long as there is no steam.
How to calculate:
To calculate how many rolls you need, we recommend the following step-by-step plan:
1. Divide the width of the wall by the width of the roll
2. Divide the length of the roll by the pattern height
3. Divide the height of your wall by the length of the pattern
4. Divide the result of step 2 by step 3
5. Divide step 1 by step 4: Is number of rolls needed
Always round this number up, otherwise you will come up short. If you are at 6.1 rolls, you should order 7. In this case we advise you to order a made-to-measure wallpaper and cut away what is in between (such as a window or door frame).
Our patterns vary in height, so always send us a message for pattern sizes if you did not order a sample. All samples have this information.
